Slovenian Music Days

Apr 7 2025 - Apr 15 2025
Ljubljana, Maribor

The two largest Slovenian cities, Ljubljana and Maribor, will be the venues of the 39th Slovenian Music Days, an annual festival featuring works by Slovenian composers from various serious genres.

Combining contemporary music and Slovenian music heritage, the festival will bring six concerts, an opera, and 26 new compositions.

The opening concert by the Symphonic Orchestra of RTV Slovenija at the Slovenian Philharmonic will mark the 80th birthday of conductor Uroš Lajovic, who will conduct the concert.

In the Old Power Plant, a new chamber opera by Tomaž Svete Sopra Lo Amore will premiere on 8 April and will be staged for two more nights.

On 11 April, Ensemble Dissonance, under the direction of Klemen Hvala, will present new works by young composers from the Ljubljana Academy of Music.

Two days later, the Night of Slovenian Composers will feature ten new compositions performed by members of the MD7 Ensemble for Contemporary Music.
