There are countless culinary festivals in Slovenia, but few provide a setting as picturesque as the Pier of Flavours. Taking place on Izola's north pier, it offers stunning views of the seaside, the Izola lighthouse and the White Rocks beach.

Local restaurateurs serve up a variety of seafood as well as traditional and modern takes on the inland Istrian cuisine. Sardines are often the stars, alongside pasta with truffles, beef tagliata, prosciutto and fritole, a local variety of doughnuts.

The dishes are paired with wines from Istrian winemakers, who are considered among the best in Slovenia.
