The biggest recreational event in the Slovenian capital, the annual Walk along the Wire follows in the footsteps of the barbed wire that kept the city under lockdown during the Second World War.

The 67th iteration of the three-day festival will get under way on 8 May as kids from Ljubljana's kindergartens walk short sections of the 35-kilometre gravel path around the city. School students will walk the path the next day.

The event will culminate on Saturday, 10 May with a hike along the whole or sections of the wire, and a run of three member teams at distances of 12.5 km and 29 km, plus a 3 km run for pupils, students and teachers.

While prior registration is not required for the hike and the shortest run, the trio runners need to register by 18 April. The starting fee is €10 per team. For further details, click here.
