Piran on the Slovenian seaside has a long history of salt production and the nearby saltworks, dating back 700 years, are what created the city's wealth.

Every year the local community pays tribute to this tradition with a series of events taking place in the streets of Piran, the Sečovlje Saltworks and the Strunjan Saltworks.

Vendors will sell local products, while visitors will also get to try several wooden tools traditionally used in salt production.
