Exploitation of nature in contemporary art show
Apr 24 2025 - Feb 8 2026 Ljubljana
Works from natural materials created by 87 Slovenian and foreign artists are on show at the +MSUM museum of contemporary art in an exhibition focusing on exploitation of nature.
The exhibition Weaving Worlds: Collections in Conversations explores the relationship between culture and nature while critically addressing environmental issues.
It is divided into three sections. The central one is titled Forgotten World and features works from natural materials, including soil, water, wood and wool, as well as works that rely on natural materials. A series of ceramics is also on show.
The World Alike section is composed of installations inspired by the relationship with nature. Works of naive art and artworks that critique industrialisation and its relationship to nature are presented in A World in the Making section.
Of the artists featured most are from Northern Macedonia and countries of the former Yugoslavia. Their works are complemented by creations of artists from Brazil, Poland, Bolivia, Sudan, Uruguay and other countries.
The artworks were mostly created in the mid-20th century and testify to an endless enjoyment of the blessings of nature.
