Druga Godba festival
May 29 2025 - May 31 2025 Ljubljana
Held for the 41st year running, the Druga Godba festival will see a selection of some of the best innovative world music artists from Europe, Asia, South America and Africa that made a mark over the past year, as well as two Slovenian bands.
The audience can expect a diverse programme of 12 concerts by artists from 18 countries. Some of them will get them up and dancing, while others will take them to quiet(er) depths.
The organizers promise a selection of "dynamic, refined, handcrafted sounds" from the four continents.
The opening night at the Kino Šiška venue will feature Wacław Zimpel's Indian music ensemble Saagara, the Turkish psych-folk innovators Altin Gün, and Moving as a Giant, a band from Murska Sobota whose music has been described as raw, something between subtle melodies and pure noise.
The festival line-up also includes Aïta Mon Amour, the duo formed by Widad Mjama, a pioneer of female rap in Morocco, and Khalil Epi, a key figure in the Arab electronic scene; Songhoy Blues, who play transcendental desert blues; Amina Cadelli, a singer of Swiss Berber heritage, aka Flèche Love; and Somalian singer and activist Sahra Halgan.
All of them will perform at Kino Šiška, while smaller, more intimate projects and acts will be on the programme at Cankarjev Dom, Metelkova venue and the Vodnik Homestead in the Šiška borough.
