Spanish collective memory in pictures
Sep 14 - Nov 19
The Slovenian Ethnographic Museum is hosting a photo exhibition on Spanish non-tangible heritage between 1858 and 1988 as part of the cultural programme of Spain's presidency of the Council of the EU.
The show Intangible. Heritage and Collective Memory gives an insight into the Spanish collective memory through work, relationships, gestures, images of everyday life, celebrations and professions.
Photographers in Spain had been commissioned to document heritage such as cathedrals, monasteries, museums or precious items since the 19th century. Some of them were also attracted to non-tangible heritage - people and their way of life, and the exhibition testifies to their ability to observe everyday life.
